Food neophobia is the fear or lack of trying new food. The idea of this can ultimately damage someone's diet. Sometime in the evolutionary past, we believed that it protects a person from eating substances that could cause illness or death. Nowadays, having food neophobia can lead to a very small diet and lack of nutrition. Food neophobia happens in early childhood but can extend to adulthood. Some scientists believe genetics can play a role in food neophobia as well.

This is a really interesting phenomenon, has any research been done on how to introduce new foods to individuals with food neophobia that may potentially increase they're willingness to try new foods?
