According to navy seal Jocko Willink discipline equals freedom and "motivation" is just a little emotion that plays less of a role then we think. "It’s not about motivation. Motivation is a fickle little emotional thing and if you get too hungry sometimes you’re not motivated, or if you get too tired sometimes you’re not motivated. Or if it’s been a long day you lose your motivation. So that’s why motivation doesn’t matter to me". -Jocko Willink.
I understand this concept and agree that discipline is the more important role. Without discipline it doesn't matter how motivated you are, discipline is key in almost all aspects of life and being successful. Having went through the police academy this year discipline was something that myself and none of the other recruits at the time could not lack. Discipline is important in every aspect of life in order to be successful and free, and it allows one to have power and control in life. A disciplined person is free of the chaos that people without that skill experience. A disciplined person adheres to and abides by certain rules and norms.
