The following list are legal substances that are considered psychoactive drugs: caffeine, alcohol, and nicotine. Caffeine is known to be the most used psychoactive stimulant in the world and this fact is due to the number of people in the world who drink coffee on a daily basis. Since the start of the pandemic and transferring to college classes fully virtual I have consumed a great deal of caffeine. I drink coffee during online classes every day, so that I can concentrate on the long lectures on Zoom. I found myself craving coffee more each day and would find comfort in taking occasional trips to Starbucks during quarantine. I've recently noticed changes in my sleep patterns and increased dehydration. When I researched why these changes were occurring, it was because I had been consuming a lot of caffeine. I recently decided to reduce my need for caffeine because this drug has a negative effect on my body.
I also noticed changes in my sleep schedule when I would consume large amounts of caffeine. When I began to cut it out of my diet I noticed positive changes in my mood and found going to bed to be much easier.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to this post because I used to go to Dunkin all the time during quarantine too. Even when I wasn't craving coffee it was just a bad habit of going to get it. I definitely think I gained weight from the coffee I was drinking, and it was hard to give up. It definitely wasn't easy, but I think it's awesome you reduced the caffeine you have. You'll definitely feel a lot better I know I did!
