Caffeine Is not usually known for being an addictive psychoactive drug because it is legal and consumed by many Americans and people across the world. Although it is legal it is highly addictive and many people have a caffeine addiction in order for them to stay awake during the day. Side effects of caffeine can include anxiety, irregular heartbeat and can cause headaches & lack of sleep. When people think of psychoactive drugs usually caffeine is not said. Along with caffeine, some other psychoactive drugs are hallucinogens, cannabis, and opioids.
When people wake up in the morning, the first thing they usually do is grab their coffee, because there bodies physically start to rely on caffeine to keep them awake during the day. Although caffeine is not looked down upon, watching your caffeine intake is important. Caffeine can also be in different types or drinks and foods such as soda and candy.
Erin,
ReplyDeleteThis s a very interesting post, I myself am guilty of being reliant on caffeine to start my day. I never really thought of it as being a psychoactive drug. Great post

I really enjoyed your post. I think that you made a good point that people don't even realize the first thing they do is reach for coffee in the morning. Just shows how much of a hold caffeine has.
ReplyDeleteGreat post! It is important to have things in moderation and acknowledge different sources that caffeine can be found in.
ReplyDeleteHey Erin,
ReplyDeleteThank you for this information. To be honest I never considered caffeine to be a drug, but after reading your post and a little bit of research on my own, it made sense why it is considered one. There are people that are know who can't functiion or live a day without it
