In this section the conditions went from bad to worse. The
men are at an all-time low in being cold. They were so cold and wet sleeping
was basically impossible. The uncontrollable shaking of their bodies also did
not assist in the attempt to sleep.
This is a
crucial time in the journey for the men. This is the low point of the journey.
I do not know how I would have survived at this time. I complain when it is 30
degrees out. However, these men are basically freezing to death and are sleep
deprived. There bodies as well as their minds are being tested on a grand
scale.
