Setting goals in life and achieving them are not as easy as it sounds. Some my fail while others conquer their goals and move to the next. Setting goals need to be realistic for each person that sets them. For example,I wanted to loose ten pounds before June, so I started dieting and exercising back in February to make my goal obtainable. I set a realistic goal of loosing two pounds a week. People set goals for themselves at various levels; however, if I set my goal at ten pounds two weeks ago, then I would venture to say that I would not have come close to loosing ten pounds(Deckers,2010, p. 268. ) The key to goal setting is achieving a goal that is within reaching from your view. If standards are set too high then the goal may not be obtainable. Again, being realistic about the goal you are setting is the key, and when you start to see progress towards your goal, as in loosing a pound or two, then it gives you motivation to work even harder towards your goal.If we did all the things we are capable of, we would literally astound ourselves.Thomas A.
