This is going a little further back in the book, but its
something that really stuck out to me and has stuck with me. The idea of an addict. Now many of us know what a typical addict
is. Oh this person is addicted to weed,
or this person is addicted to cocaine but I never truly realized how much
caffeine can be a drug as well. I was
never the type to need a cup of coffee every morning just to start my day, but
many of the closest people that I know are that way. Both my mom and dad have coffee every morning
and everyone knows to stay away until they have finished it. My boyfriend is the complete opposite. He can drink five cups and then go right to
bed, because his body is so used to it. When
I was reading the section on addiction, I realized both of these situations,
while not major, are forms of addiction.
Everyone has something that they can’t seem to live without, but I didn’t
realize how much of an affect caffeine has on people. I am not personally a huge coffee drinker,
but I do love tea and espresso and other drinks that have caffeine in
them. A favorite right now is a new
vitamin water, which turns out has it in it as well. I just personally think it is crazy how a
person can get so hooked on some type of food or drink because it has caffeine in
it.

I can definitely empathize with people who need coffee in the morning, because I am that person. I suppose I could say that the Dunkin Donuts on campus is my main drug supplier. I can't go to class in the morning without buying a coffee from them first.
ReplyDeleteI am definitely that person that needs coffee too. Even if it means being 10 minutes late to work, I have to stop and get my coffee, or it will just be a miserable day!
